Symbol CREATOR
Q. Is there a way to
copy symbol information into a new library or do you have to
hand enter new symbol
information into a new library.
A. Yes.
You can copy or rename symbols directly from library. If you
want to copy Symbol first you have to Select Symbol library and
open symbol you want to copy after open symbol. After that
Select Symbol Library where you want to copy this symbol after
that go to Symbol Manu and save the symbol. If you don’t need
same symbol name you can rename symbol name and then save it at
new location.
Q. I ran across a
problem when trying to generate new logic symbols for the
AM26LS31 and MA26LS32 quad-differential line driver and
receiver. After creating the logic symbol for these
parts, I used the IO command for the enable function (G,
~G), which is shared among all 4 components, by assigning the
same pin number to every instance in the package of 4. It
worked fine until I used them in my schematic and place
them in it. When checking for design for errors, I got
error messages for these shared pins (*), and then the program
(Circuit Creator) aborts and dies loosing all work done
up to that point (**). Would you please tell me why I can
use shared pins like those found in these two parts? Is there
a newer version of your product that takes into account this
particular problem and solves it? (*) The error
messages read, "This PART/PIN combination is multiply
defined". (**) After Circuit Creator goes through
all supposedly "design errors", a new pop-up window
shows an error "Cannot open file .sch", and then the
program dies.
A. Your
symbol was wrongly created so these types of problems are
occurs. You are using " I used the IO command for the
enable function (G, ~G), which is shared among all 4 components,
by assigning the same pin number to every instance in the
package of 4." this command it is not corrected. If you
want 4 gates in one symbol you give 4 in section command in
symbol creation. And than you give all four-section pin no in IO
than you get four-sections in one. (Like U1-A, U1-B, U1-C,
U1-D).
Q. In your library
AMS810.LBP you have the part 16F887. When using Symbol
Creator, you show the Power Pins: 11=32, 5=12, 31=GND. Is
this correct, and what does it mean? Pin 11 and Pin 32
should be +VDD. Pin 12 and pin 31 should be
gnd. Pin 5 is RA3/AN3.
A. When
you create new symbol in Symbol Creator in logic symbol some pin
is take +5V, GND, and other signals. If you want to show those
pins in symbols then it is ok but if you didn’t want to show
those pins on symbol you can connect directly from part
definition Manu.
Example:
In 7404 Pin 7 = GND and 14 = +5V and it is NOT gate so you can
show only NOT gate symbol not Power and Ground pins.
Q. If you have a N/C
pin, should you label it as N/C with NOSHOW or should you
remove it from the symbol
definition.
A. Yes
it is true you can do like this. When you never use this pin for
any connection you give it Not Shown in symbol or remove it from
symbols. You can use NC for Not Connected Net name label for
this kind of Pins in future when you need those pins you can use
it easily otherwise you have to Generate a new symbols for that.
Q. Do you support
heterogeneous symbols? That is, I have a physical part, which
contains two, or more completely unrelated sections? Breaking
a part down heterogeneously
is also useful when the number of pins on a part is large.
A. Yes
Logic Creator program support heterogeneous parts and even
heterogeneous parts with exceptions (a small number of pins can
be different between sections). At the same time you have to
make two different symbols in library and it is up to you which
symbols you want to use for that part or not.
Q. I can already
open the load symbol menu but it only contains 20 or so I.C.'s
if I wanted to put an
smt resistor or an smt capacitor were would I look. Under new
it tells me I need the
platinum Edition, is that the problem?
A. You
have to scroll this window down side by using mouse or keyboard
cursor key. Now, you see more symbols names on your menu after
that click on your symbol name you need to use or scroll window
down for more. If your symbol files not in library you can
create your own symbols for Board Creator. For that you have to
make your symbol as per his physical diagram and select it using
select command and go to file menu and click on "Save
Symbol" command or you can use Ctrl + C hotkey directly
from keyboard then one window will be appear you have to fill up
name of the symbol you want to store your own footprint symbol
in library then click on Ok button and save your footprint
symbol
Q. We have Circuit
Creator for Windows customer for several years now. I have a
technical question I need some help with. We recently
purchased a program called DocuCom from Zeon
www.zeon.com.tw that creates a .pdf file of a printed output
from Windows. It installs just like a print driver and is
considered another Windows printer. If we try to
"print" to this "printer" from any other
program it works great
creating a .pdf file
A. There
must be a problem with installation of your .PDF print program
you have So when you try to print from any of the Circuit
Creator programs the .pdf file is created but with zero (0)
bytes. Another words, there is no data put in to the .pdf file.
So I want to suggest you first thing re-install this program and
install it again and then try to print schematic file you are
trying first time and see the results.
Q. One other problem
I'm having is that several parts that I have loaded do not
have their in/out pins aligned with the grid. When I examined
these parts in Symbol Creator, I noticed that the area
statement was "Area 1340 1300" which caused
the output pin terminations not to lie on the 100 unit grid.
A. Yes.
You are right. What you have to do is just open the Symbol
Creator and load select symbol library and update this symbol
line "Area 1400 1300" and save it in library and go to
Logic Creator and freshen this symbol from Library menu.
Q. I wanted to view
the symbols in 74XX library. I started the Symbol Creator,
selected the Part Library for 74.lbp, opened 7404.prt and
noticed the symbol for this part is s04. Then I selected
the symbol library (74.lbp) from the menu. Then tried to
open it, but I got the Error message "No matching entries
in this library: *. sym. In logic creator I can
load this part in my schematic diagram so I know it exist. I
checked all of the 74XX libraries and they all create the
same Error message but other libraries seem to be OK.
Can you let me know how I can access to these symbols (74xx)
and be able to view/
modify them?
A. Yes.
You didn’t find any symbols in 74XX library files because we
have not saved any symbols in this library we have stored all
the symbols related to this library in to symbols.lbs so you
have to open this library from symbol menu using Select library
command and open your symbol from this library and modify it as
per you want to modify.
Q. Do you have a
utility that will allow me to see or print the part numbers in a
library (i.e. all the 2n?????? transistors in the analog
library) Right now I am looking for symbols for a line
driver L298 made by ST and a amplifier LM3875, I would
guess analog or linear libraries but if I had a search tool I
could find it faster.
A. Yes.
You can do that using Symbol Creator. This program gives you
list of parts and Symbol all ready have in particular library.
You can get text file or print it out on printer. Also you can
search your part using Library/Part by name command from Library
in Logic Creator program and you can see the same or similar
parts name those parts are stored in program Libraries in
current Circuit Creator directory with the name of .lbp and.
lbs.
Q. Do you have a
utility that will allow me to export a parts library to
Microsoft excel or
access and allow me to make changes and then import those
changes into a
library. (Page editing rather than component-by-component line
editing.)
A. No
you can not change symbol and parts using any other program you
must have to use Symbol Creator to do that only thing you can
get printout for that.
Q. I next go into
Symbol Creator, pull up the part in question, and change the
Corp. Part Number (why
is it not the same as the Corp Number of the same part on the
drawing?) to the desired part number. It is now the right
number on the
drawing, and in the
part/symbol library. But it is still not correct on the BOM!
Why is this, and where is
it getting the empty or incorrect number from?
A. When
you load part in schematic file and then change the part number
from Symbol Creator program both are different so you have use
freshen command to refresh this part from Library menu and
select part and OK now you double click on part and see the part
number in part update Manu.
Q. In addition to my
two previous emails, Logic Creator has now totally stopped
producing BOM reports. I go into Export, choose BOM, it seems
to process, no errors, and then nothing. No board BOM is
created, I scan all of my hard disk and cannot find
xxxxx.BOM. It was producing it hours ago, but no longer. Please,
what is going on?
A. When
schematic have unexpected errors after that program can’t
generate any report files from anywhere so you must have to
check your symbols and its pinots when somebody is design. And
also make sure your schematic file have no logical error.
Q. That I have a
Region Pour that is a large area on my board. I need just 1
corner angled off at a
45-degree angle. (Take a very small end off of the region pour).
What is the best way to do this? I noticed that since I had
this major problem with
my software, your tech team doesn't answer a lot of my emails.
A. Region
Pour command doesn’t allow you to use 45-degree angle. For
getting 45 Degree corner in Region pour you have to use ARC
command and do this when you want to put.
Q. Is there a way to
copy symbol information into a new library or do you have to
hand enter new symbol
information into a new library.
A. Yes
If you are using SYMBOL CREATOR for that you have to first open
SYMBOL from current library and then OPEN your TARGET LIBRARY
and then just press on save bottom. If you want to change the
name of symbol you can do that and save it.
Schematic Part /
Symbol: If you need parts or symbols for use in schematic
capture program you need to create this symbol and parts using
SYMBOL CREATOR Program. This symbol has Logical information of
the particular parts.
PCB Layout Symbol:
If you want to use symbol in Board Creator program you have to
use Board Creator program and save it in to CKTCRT as a .PCS
file and then use this symbol in Board Creator. This symbol have
physical information of that part so when you are going to mount
it on a PCB when you assemble it.
